Coal Berth-1 and Coal Berth-2 at Kamarajar Port are dedicated facilities developed to handle bulk coal cargo, primarily catering to the thermal power sector (on captive user basis). The berths are equipped with mechanised coal handling systems to ensure efficient and continuous cargo evacuation. Coal Berths 1 & 2, with a handling capacity of 8 MTPA each, can accommodate two coal carriers of up to 77,000 DWT, 280 m long, and handle thermal coal for the thermal power plants of TANGEDCO and its JV companies. Unloaded coal is moved directly through the conveyor system to the stackyard located in the adjoining North Chennai Thermal Power Station (NCTPS), from where a part of it is moved further to Mettur through rail connectivity. TANGEDCO has invested in, and is operating and maintaining, all top-side facilities such as shore unloaders and the conveyor system for handling thermal coal.

Operated by Ennore Tank Terminal Private Limited (ETTPL)

Marine Liquid Terminal, with a cargo handling capacity of 3 MTPA (expandable up to 6 MTPA), was developed on BOT basis by ETTPL, and commercial operations commenced on 16th January 2009. To meet the demand in the trade, the BOT operator developed additional storage tanks and installed LPG handling equipment. Berthing facility is available for petroleum, LPG, chemical, gas and vegetable oil tankers. To mitigate the congestion of vessels, M/s. ETTPL laid additional dock lines and installed marine unloading arms, thereby reducing the vessel waiting time. The tank farm is located on a 33-acre leased plot at about 3.7 km from the berth. Multiple pipelines transfer products between vessels and shore tanks. Storage tanks inside the port premises: 64 tanks with a total capacity of 2,54,000 KL for petroleum, chemicals and safe class cargo. The jetty and storage tank terminal are fully operational.
