Coal Berth-1 and Coal Berth-2 at Kamarajar Port are dedicated facilities developed to handle bulk coal cargo, primarily catering to the thermal power sector (on captive user basis). The berths are equipped with mechanised coal handling systems to ensure efficient and continuous cargo evacuation.Coal Berths 1 & 2 with handling capacity of 8 MTPA each can accommodate 280m long two coal carriers of up to 77000DWT and handles Thermal Coal for the Thermal power plants of TANGEDCO and its JV Companies. Unloaded coal is directly moved through the conveyor system to the stackyard located in the adjoining North Chennai Thermal Power Station (NCTPS) from where a part of it, is moved further to Mettur, through Rail Connectivity. TANGEDCO has invested in and is operating and maintaining all top side facilities like shore unloaders, conveyor system, etc. for handling thermal coal.

Operated by Ennore Tank Terminal private Limited (ETTPL)

Marine Liquid Terminal with cargo handling capacity of 3 MTPA ( expandable upto 6 MTPA) was developed under BOT basis by ETTPL and commercial operations commenced from 16 th January 2009. To meet the demand in the trade, the BOT Operator developed additional storage tanks and installed LPG handling equipment. Berthing Facility for Petroleum, LPG, chemical, gas and vegetable oil tankers. To mitigate the congestion of vessels, M/s. ETTPL laid additional dock lines and installed marine unloading arms thereby reducing the vessel waiting time. The tank farm is located in 33 acre plot-leased plot at about 3.7 km from the berth. Multiple Pipelines for transfer of Products between vessel and shore tanks. Storage Tanks inside the port premises- 64 tanks with a total capacity of 2,54,000 KL for petroleum, chemicals and safe class cargo. Jetty and Storage Tank Terminal fully operational..

Operated by Ennore Coal Terminal Private Limited (ECTPL)

Common user coal terminal is operated by Ennore Coal Terminal Private Limited (ECTPL) is a part of JSW Group, which was awarded License by Kamarajar Port Ltd., for a Common User Coal Terminal at Ennore on BOT basis for a period of 30 years. This Coal Terminal has successfully commenced operations on 11.03.20211 with state- of- the- art fully automated equipment and conveyor systems, yard and evacuations systems with a capacity to handle 11 MTPA. To handle cape size vessels, the operator extended the berth length by 22.5 m with draft of 16m. The stackyard area of 48.0 Ha is located at about 2.5 km from Port Compound wall..

Common User Coal Terminal

  • Two Ship Unloaders of 1750 TPH each fully equipped with closed conveyor system.
  • Two Stacker Reclaimers with 1750 MT TPH each for stacking and 1000 MT TPH each for reclaiming cargo.
  • Wagon loading system with In Motion Weighbridge for rake handling and cargo evacuation. The in-motion wagon loading station is installed for loading one full rake of 59 wagons (3500T).

Operated by Adani Ennore Container Terminal Private Limited

The Common User Container Terminal at Kamarajar Port has been developed under a Design–Build–Finance–Operate–Transfer (DBFOT) model pursuant to a concession agreement executed between Kamarajar Port Limited and Adani Ennore Container Terminal Private Limited on 15 March 2014 with a handling capacity of 1.40 Million TEUs per annum under PPP mode in a phased manner. The total back up area for container terminal is 36.5 Ha. The project involves development, operation, maintenance, and transfer of a modern container handling facility with a designed capacity of 16.80 MMTPA, developed at an estimated cost of ₹1,270 crore. Phase-I of the project, with a capacity of 9.60 MMTPA, was commissioned in October 2017. The terminal functions as a common user facility and plays a key role in enhancing containerised cargo handling capability and hinterland connectivity at Kamarajar Port. The commercial operations of container terminal (Phase – 1) began from the financial year 2017-18..

Operated by Indian Oil LNG Private Limited

M/s. IOCL, lead partner of JV, has set up the LNG terminal with re-gasification facilities. Re-gasification Terminal consists of 2 tanks each of gross capacity 1,80,000 cubic meter. The terminal was commissioned on 26.02.2019 and the cost of the project is 3834.15 crore.

The LNG Terminal at Kamarajar Port has been developed on a captive user basis pursuant to a concession agreement executed on 31 July 2015 between Kamarajar Port Limited and Indian Oil LNG Private Limited. The project involves the design, engineering, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of an LNG port and regasification facility, including marine infrastructure such as a dedicated LNG jetty and associated offshore facilities.

The terminal has present capacity of 5 MTPA (expandable upto 10 MTPA) of LNG, with supporting port infrastructure provided by Kamarajar Port Limited, and plays a strategic role in strengthening LNG import capability and gas-based energy infrastructure on the east coast.

Kamarajar Port – MARINE FUEL - Supplied by IOCL

The Bunkering operations of Kamarajar Port is being carried out within the Port Limit for the vessels calling the port at Berth & at Anchorage. Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), a leading bunker fuels supplier in India, supplies 100% bunker requirement to the vessels calling the Kamarajar port.

The Fuel Supplied by them are:

  • 0.5 % Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO)
    • Indian Oil is supplying VLSFO produced from Low Sulphur residue components coming from the refining processes.
    • The viscosity of VLSFO in the 220–300 cSt range.
    • Specs: ISO 8217:2024 RMG 380
  • 0.1 % Low Sulphur MGO
    • LSMGO (HFHSD) is a differentiated grade specifically made for Merchant vessels distillate Fuel needs.
    • Specs: ISO 8217:2024 DMA & MIL-DTL-16844M
  • 3.5 % Sulphur Fuel Oil (HSFO)
    • Indian Oil is supplying HSFO produced from the residue components coming from refining processes.
    • Viscosity of HSFO is below 180 cSt (max 180 cSt).
    • This fuel is suitable for vessels having scrubbers.
    • Specs: ISO 8217:2024 RME 180

Operated by Ennore Bulk Terminal Private Limited (EBTPL)

The Terminal is operated by Ennore Bulk Terminal Private Limited (EBTPL), a part of JSW Group, which was awarded license by Kamarajar Port Ltd. for a Common User Multi Cargo Terminal at Ennore on DBFOT basis for a period of 30 years.

This Multi Cargo Terminal commenced operations on 05.08.2017 with state-of-the-art equipment, warehouses, open yard and other amenities with a capacity to handle 2 MTPA.

एनोर बल्क टर्मिनल प्राइवेट लिमिटेड (EBTPL) द्वारा संचालित

यह मल्टी कार्गो टर्मिनल JSW समूह की कंपनी द्वारा DBFOT आधार पर विकसित किया गया है। इसका संचालन 05.08.2017 को शुरू हुआ और इसकी क्षमता 2 MTPA है।

  • स्टील, प्रोजेक्ट कार्गो, रिवर सैंड, जिप्सम, लाइमस्टोन, उर्वरक आदि कार्गो संभाल सकता है
